Fraud
Fake offers that ask you to pay first
Genuine work pays you. An offer that asks you to pay first, whatever it calls the payment, isn't a job.
What the request looks like
- Registration or activation fees before any work appears
- Training packages sold by the person offering the job
- Starter kits of materials bought from them
- Deposits to unlock tasks or withdraw earnings
- Forwarding money through your account, which can involve you in a crime
Earlier signs
Messages you didn't ask for, unusually high pay for simple tasks, contact only through private chat apps and pressure to decide quickly.
What to do
Don't pay or forward anything. Stop replying and report the account. If you've already paid, call your bank straight away and report it to the police or your country's fraud reporting service.
